Release Notes
In 2008, on our ceaseless quest for perfection, we created Glenmorangie Astar (Scots Gaelic for “journey”), a single malt entirely matured in bespoke oak casks, which were designed to deliver perfection in the final spirit. Today, in its triumphant return, we renew our homage to the power of wood. The Astar’s extraordinary casks are hewn from hand-selected slow-grown oak trees from the Ozark mountains of Missouri, and meticulously crafted to exacting specifications, to ensure they impart their maximum flavour to our delicate Highland spirit. Although the silken depths of its first release delighted connoisseurs, such casks are so rare that it has taken years to orchestrate its renaissance. In 2017, The Astar’s triumphant, limited-edition return brings a newfound richness and complexity to this smooth, creamy and long celebrated single malt.
Glenmorangie
This is the 2017 Edition newly released. From the wild mind of Dr Bill Lumsden, this whisky is aged in "designer casks". The slow growth air dried American oak from the Ozarks is the finest available and Glenmorangie is the only Scotch producer willing to spend the extra money to procur fresh oak of this quality. The light char and extreme quality of the oak do not affect the whisky like other virgin oak casks, which typically over power the delicate malt. IN this case these gorgeous casks add so much but never detract from the incredible spirit. A truly unique and exceptional realization of the Whisky Maker's vision.

3rd Party Tasting Notes
Nose: rich aromas of butterscotch and honey are balanced with bright, floral top notes, the freshness of mint, freshly squeezed lemons and a delightful burst of coconut.
Palate: smooth and creamy on the palate, as sumptuously sweet crème-brûlée emerges with tropical fruits, apricots and vanilla custard, hazelnuts in soft buttery fudge, then clove, toasted oak and a hint of cooling menthol.
Finish: Honey and almond mingle with coconut ice and aniseed for an enduring smoothness at the finish.
