Release Notes
This special blend is a marriage of the finest 12 year old single malt and single grain whiskies distilled in Scotland. The selection of whiskies falls true to the Duncan Taylor ethic of unbridled quality, each whisky from each cask is nosed and tasted before going into the Black Bull vatting. Like its older brother, Black Bull 12yo is 50% malt, 50% grain and bottled at 50% alc/vol.
Black Bull Whisky
A classic, first produced during the 1930s. Duncan Taylor took the helm in 2001 and continues to blend Black Bull from equal measures of malt and grain whisky. This is the more recently released 12 year old expression.

3rd Party Tasting Notes
Nose: Sweetness, cereals, berry fruits, nutty, tangy, spices, cocoa.:
Palate: Thick and rounded. Nutty and soft with orchard fruits and cream.
Finish: Thick and fruity, hint of under-ripe fruits now, creamy.
Master of Malt
Colour: Full Gold:
Nose: Sweet sherry, lemony notes and vanilla, some pears too. Quite nice actually, and full with that vanilla. the high %ABV is well integrated.
Palate: Very nice as well : Creamy, Chocolate, toffee, wood, and quite a bit of vanilla.
Finish : Cocoa , some dark chocolate, and wood.
Bottom line: This is a nice sipping whisky. It's not overly complex, but delivers a good combination of the malt and grain. Plenty of vanilla, and chocolate with a new finish. I'd recommend this blend for beginners, taking their first steps in the whisky world,as a good introduction to whisky before diving into the single malt world. Price wise, this is not a very cheap, and even more expensive than some entry level single malts. If you are not intimidated by a "Blend" , it's worth a try. Good work by Duncan Taylor.

Solid whisky in a B- sort of way. I really like this in the same way I like Glenfiddich 12. Meaning, there's no magic or anything that unique here, but it'll definitely hit the spot when I need a scotch.:
So it's a nice-enough blend. Apologies for lack of actual tasting notes.

P: Lively. Oats and pepperyness. Lemony oil. Mouthfeel is oily.
Nice finish that really hangs in there.
Nothing complex or subtle here, but its a decent lipsmacker when you want a good hit of scotch.

Duncan Taylor has its origins in Glasgow where the company was initially a merchant and broker of Scotch Whisky casks within the Industry. Devotion to the principle of providing only the finest casks to be filled at Scotland"s leading distilleries has been a key feature of the company"s history and this tradition of building an outstanding portfolio of only the finest scotch whiskies is being maintained to this day by the current owners.
When the company moved its headquarters to the North East of Scotland, close to Speyside - Scotland"s largest whisky producing region - it also took the decision to focus on the production and marketing of its own brands and to cease the "brokering" of whisky in cask form to Distillery companies and Independent bottlers.
Founded in 1938 and based in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, in Scotland"s largest whisky producing region, Duncan Taylor & Co is renowned for the quality and range of its casks of rare auld single malt and single grain scotch whiskies.
Duncan Taylor & Company has ownership of one of the largest privately-held collections of rare scotch whisky casks. The company has been "laying down" casks from premium Scottish distilleries for decades and has, in recent years, made its branded products available to whisky connoisseurs throughout the World.
The basis of the current Duncan Taylor company was the collection of Mr. Abe Rosenberg and two of his brothers. In a partnership with Charlie Guttman he managed to make the J&B brand a huge success in the USA. He owned several companies, including (from the early 1960"s) Duncan Taylor & Co. Ltd., especially set up to obtain casks of Scotch (malt and grain) whisky. When Abe passed away in 1994 the company had collected almost 4,000 casks. The company was run by a trust for a number of years until Euan Shand and Alan Gordon bought Duncan Taylor in 2002. The business was relocated from New York to Huntly in Scotland and the brand quickly established itself on the malt whisky scene. A few of Duncan Taylor"s series are "Whisky Galore", "Peerless" and "Rarest of the Rare".
