Release Notes
This whisky is made from a variety of malted barley some of which is smoked and roasted. The maturation in the sherry cask provides the whisky with its fullness and richness. Our Whiskies are natural and unchillfiltered and we do not add artifical colors.

"Nose: citrus, oats, smokey butter, sour
Taste: shades of Bunnahabhain, leather, grapefruit
Finish: lasts but no pleasant
Balance:
Alex Gurevich
Nose: furniture polish, wood strips
Taste: woody, (?) fruit
Finish: chemical (?)
Taste: ick
Alex Gurevich
Nose: bourbony
Taste: not as bourbony, bitter
Finish: didn't go anywhere, brief, just the transition from sweeter nose to progressively more bitterness
Brent Watkins
Nose: not getting the leather, definitely the fish with some astryngent
Taste: there's the leather with a bit of dirty laundry in there but not quite as gross
Finish: only the bad qualities seem to stick around... made me shudder a bit
Balance: I guess it actually is fairly balanced but still not good
David Drell
Nose: sherry notes, bit of red currant, faint whiff of crisp uniforms
Taste: unassumingly pleasant if one-note. The trains still run on time but they don't stop in this town
Finish: medicinal, a bit metallic, redolent of the fluid used to keep uniforms crisp
Balance: not valhalla, nor rocket fuel, more like Wernher von Braun liquid
David Lawson
Nose: sweet, molasses on nose, like rum
Taste: nose carries to flavor a bit
Finish: dies real fast and uninteresting, sort of vodka-ish
Balance: starts well enough but falls flat
Doug Seiden
Nose: wood but not nice, candy, not much from the sherry
Taste: alcohol, thin
Finish: good warmth but thin, oily and bitter aftertaste
Balance: like you confused a bottle of some car repair related fluid with a bottle of whisky. This is not Germany's finest hour!
Kolja Erman
Nose: like a fish wrapped in leather
Taste: like a leather belt lightly rubbed on a fish
Finish: not much there
Balance: just no enjoyable for me
Kyle Milardo
Nose: leather
Taste: leather
Finish: leather
Balance: not one of the best, glad I tried though.
Robert Crawford
Nose: candy nose, not unlike the prestige, not much else there
Taste: good initial burst of intensity with a hint of chocolate disappearing quickly to bubble gum
Finish: poor finish, oily and sickly sweet
Balance: all out of kilter, doesn't quite fit together very well

Over the years the family business has expanded considerably. For over 20 years, starting in 1989, Christian Gruel has been producing Suebian Whisky and is considered one of its pioneers. Together with grandson Immanual he is now producing whisky of the highest quality.
Christian Gruel studied and passed examination in several disciplines when studying at the Chemistry and Physics Technikum Institute of Professor Gruebler of Hohenheim University in Isny where he completed his education as a state-certified tree care specialist summa cum laude.
Because of the continually growing interest in spirits of the highest quality and because of his continous efforts to hone his skills and achieve perfection there is now a wide variety of spirits produced by Immanuel Gruel in the 4th generation. Immanual completed his education as a state-certified distiller in 2009 at the LVWO Weinsberg
Great-grandfather Richard Beller distilled spirits from the fruits of his orchards as early as 1926. Since then the knowledge and skill of growing fruit and distilling has been passed from generation to generation.
