Release Notes
The seventh release of the UBWS Infinity Cask, Batch 2024_03, filled from the society's own mini-cask. The Infinity Cask series is a procedural blending of all bottles acquired and opened by the society since the beginning of 2015 similar to its infamous Devil's Share. However, the blend is continually aged in a small oak cask. For new batches a single bottles is drawn from the cask every time it fills back up. The approach is based on the Solera Sherry aging technique. This sixth batch represents the blending of half ounce pours from 1089 bottles of 925 unique whiskies. It must be said that the original mini-cask completely evaporated during the COVID years. However, we were lucky to have a bottle's worth of the previous IC release in storage and were thus able to re-seed a new cask and continue the project.

UBWS was founded in April of 2007 by Stuart C. and Robert C., among others, as a co-workers' whisky tasting society based on the Dreamworks Animation Campus. UBWS has since held weekly tasting events for over 10 years serving up over a thousand bottles of over 800 unique whiskies from over 20 countries around the world.

In addition to tastings of commercially available whiskies the society also occasionally hosts distillery representatives for special events and even produces its own annual "procedural" blend, the UBWS Devil's Share. the UBWS DS is a procedural blend and consists of 1/2 oz of every bottle opened during the calendar year, regardless of quality or price and including repeat. As such it reflects the year at the society as a whole.

A new project launched in 2018 is the UBWS Devil's Share Solera Cask. The society owns an age-your-own cask and puts and similarly fills it with 1/2 oz pours from all bottles opened. Whenever the cask fills up a bottle's worth is drained and served at the bar. The solera project thus is growing to become the sum of all whiskies tasted at the society since 2015.
